Walya Pay
The wallet underneath every other service. It holds payment in escrow while a job is in progress, releases it on confirmed completion, pays drivers out to the channels they already use, and issues a receipt that stands up in your accounts.
Who this is for
- Everyone using Walya
- Drivers and carriers receiving payouts
- Businesses that need tax-compliant invoices
How it works
- 1
Top up how you already pay
telebirr, M-Pesa, bank transfer, or cash through an agent.
- 2
Your money is held, not handed over
Payment goes into escrow when the job is accepted and is released on confirmed completion, scanned from a QR code. Nobody is paid for work that did not happen.
- 3
Release is a scan, not a promise
Completion is confirmed by scanning a QR code at the handover, which is what moves the money.
- 4
Payout and receipt
Carriers are paid out to their own channel, and both sides get a receipt that works as a record.
What you need
- A verified Walya account
- A payout channel if you are receiving money
Questions about this service
What does Walya charge?
Either 0% or 12% commission, depending on the subscription held. The applicable rate is shown before a job is accepted — never applied afterwards.
Where is my money while a job is in progress?
In escrow, which is neither your balance nor the carrier’s. It is released on confirmed completion, or returned if the job does not happen.
Can I get a proper invoice?
Yes — electronic invoices are issued against completed work, with a verifiable QR receipt.
